Sea Gulls drop first CAC game to No. 21 UMW
SALISBURY, Md. -
The University of Mary Washington women's basketball team held Salisbury's two leading scorers, Jessica Mills and Meghan Phillips, to a combined 13 points as No. 21 ranked Eagles won easily, 81-44, over SU on Wednesday night at the Maggs Center.

Senior Meghan Klug was the only Sea Gull in double-figures as she totaled 11 points while Mills pulled down a team-high six rebounds.

The Sea Gulls (8-5, 3-1 CAC) trailed 40-19 at the half after they took an early 10-5 lead just five minutes into the game. The Eagles (10-2, 2-1 CAC) shot for over 50 percent in the first frame including 8-of-10 from the charity stripe.

The Eagles were led by the trio of Debbie Bruen, Liz Hickey and Sarah Flanagan who scored 18, 12 and 12 points each, respectively. Bruen pulled down a game-high eight rebounds for UMW.

The Sea Gulls committed 41 turnovers which led to 29 Eagle points and were outscored off the bench, 36-14.

Salisbury will return to action on Saturday, January 13 as it visits St. Mary's (Md.) in a Capital Athletic Conference game. The game is set for a 2 p.m. start.
