Mills, Phillips earn All-CAC honors
SALISBURY, Md. -
The Capital Athletic Conference released the 2007 Women's Basketball All-CAC
teams on Wednesday, February 28, and two Salisbury University Sea Gulls made the
teams. Senior forward Jessica Mills was named to the first team while
junior guard Meghan Phillips was selected for the second team.
Mills led
Salisbury in scoring (15.5 points per game), rebounding (6.0 rebounds per game)
and was third on the team in steals (49). The Ijamsville, Md. native, was named
the CAC Player of the Week the last week of the regular-season (February 19)
where she led the Sea Gulls to a senior night win over Marymount (Va.)
University. Mills was named to the All-CAC second team last season.
Phillips
makes her first appearance on the All-CAC list. The junior guard was second on
the team in scoring (13.6 points per game), assists (61) and steals (50). The
Freehold, N.J. native, led SU in three-point field goals made with 47.
CAC
champion Mary Washington placed two players on the first team including Player
of the Year Liz Hickey. The Eagles were also honored with the Coach of the Year,
Deena Applebury. Stephanie Saint-Aubin from St. Mary's (Md.) College was named
the conference's Rookie of the Year.
