Gulls, 2004 champions of the Capital Athletic Conference, end the year with a
final 25-12 record.
After nine early ties in the opening game, Frostburg used an 8-1 run midway through that game to open a 16-10 lead. The Sea Gulls pulled to within three at 20-17 on a Lindsay Lawson kill, but the Bobcats answered by scoring five of the next six points en route to a 30-21 opening win. An epic game two battle featured several swings in momentum. After falling behind early at 4-3, the Gulls used a pair of scoring runs to eventually build a nine-point lead at 18-9. Frostburg battled back to tie the game at 22. The Sea Gulls would eventually survive six game-point attempts by Frostburg, and claimed the 37-35 win with back-to-back kills by Lynn Cippolone and Abbey Petrecca. The game featured 15 ties. In game three, Frostburg maintained a slim 20-18 lead before scoring seven straight points and claiming a 30-21 win. Salisbury led 6-1 early in game four before the Bobcats rallied to close out the match with a 30-25 victory. "I thought Lindsay played a great match and blocked better than she did all year," said Knight. "I also think Kim (Rementer) showed tonight why she is one of the best libero players in the region." Lawson paced the Gulls with 17 kills, while Cippolone added 14 kills and Mister recorded 10 kills. Petrecca finished with a team-high 22 digs in addition to 42 assists. Brittany Mister and Rementer added 19 digs apiece. "We had an outstanding season with a young team that featured lots of freshmen and underclassmen," said Knight. "Our early schedule was very challenging with a lot of tough competition, but this team didn't lose its focus of winning the conference championship and getting to the NCAA Tournament. We were battle-tested by the time we got to the conference tournament. "I think we have a bright future. We lose one senior who was a key player for us, but we also return three all-conference players next season."
