Sea Gulls tame Mustangs, 3-1
STEVENSON, Md. -
After two weeks of racking up wins on its home court the Salisbury University volleyball team took to the road Tuesday night to face Villa Julie College in a Capital Athletic Conference match. The Sea Gulls dropped the first set, ending their six match streak of winning in straight sets, but rallied to win the following three sets to defeat the Mustangs, 3-1.

The 27-30, 30-18, 30-19, 30-22 victory is the 12 straight match win for the Gulls this season who are now 19-5 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the conference, where they sit in first place.

Sophomore Rachel Downes posted an impressive double-double as she recorded 21 kills and 20 digs against the Mustangs. Junior Stacey Krebs, this week's CAC Athlete of the Week, made a team-high 27 kills, 14 digs and one solo block.

Sophomore Gabby Long led all Gulls with 26 digs and freshman Melissa Stansbury chipped in 22 digs as well. Junior Jaime Marzocchi made 59 assists, eight digs, three kills and two block assists. Fellow junior Sabrina Larmer added six kills and two solo blocks in the win.

The road trip is a short one for SU who will return to the Maggs Center tomorrow night (Wednesday, October 3) and host Christopher Newport University in a non-conference match at 7 p.m.
