Salisbury moves into CAC semifinals with 3-0 shutout
SALISBURY, Md. -
The second-seed Salisbury University volleyball team did what they set out to accomplish on Tuesday night at the Maggs Center. Win and advance. The Sea Gulls (26-10) made quick work of seventh-seed Wesley College (11-12) with a straight set victory, 3-0, by the score of 30-19, 30-24-30-11.

Salisbury moves onto to the CAC semifinals where the maroon and gold will welcome third-seed York (Pa.) College to the Eastern Shore on Thursday night at 7 p.m.

The Sea Gulls continued to make school history on the court as sophomore libero Gabby Long entered the match tied for the school record for digs in a season with 709. With Long's first dig in the first set she became the new record holder. She ended the match with 13 digs and currently has 722 for this season. The old record was held by Kara Kowalski set back in 1998.

Junior Stacey Krebs led all Sea Gull hitters with 20 kills to raise her season total to 521. She needs 35 kills to move into third place all-time in school history for career kills.

Sophomore hitters Rachel Downes (eight kills, 14 digs) and Nicole Massarelli (five kills, three digs) helped SU on the frontline. Salisbury's service game did well as the Gulls had 12 service aces, led by junior Stephanie Withers' four strikes. Junior Jaime Marzocchi made 32 assists in the victory.

SU defeated York (Pa.) earlier this season (October 10) by the score of 3-1 (28-30, 30-24, 30-23, 30-27) on the road. Top-seed Gallaudet University will meet fourth-seed St. Mary’s (Md.) College in the other semifinal on Thursday.
