familiar foe in NCAA tournament Salisbury (28-10) will go up against a familiar opponent in Christopher Newport University (32-6) on Thursday, November 8, at 3:30 p.m. The Sea Gulls and Captains have met twice already this season as CNU swept the Sea Gulls 3-0 both times. The first match between the two schools came on October 3 when Christopher Newport snapped Salisbury's 12-match win streak with a 31-29, 30-15, 31-29 victory. SU ended its regular-season with a 30-16, 30-27, 30-24 setback to CNU at Virginia Wesleyan College on October 27. This is Salisbury's fourth overall NCAA tournament appearance and first since 2004. SU has never made it past the first round in the tournament as the Sea Gulls have a 0-3 record in the NCAA tournament. The rest of the Haverford regional features Juniata (33-4), the defending national champions and current No. 2 team in the country, Philadelphia Biblical (30-8), Neumann (23-10), Elizabethtown (31-6), DeSales (21-9) and host Haverford (29-2), who is ranked No. 15. Juniata is the only school to appear in every single women's volleyball NCAA tournament in the 27 year history of the championships. The only other team SU faced in the Haverford regional this season was Elizabethtown at the Gettysburg Tournament on September 8 where the Gulls lost 3-0. The CNU-Salisbury winner will face the winner between Juniata and Philadelphia Biblical on Friday, November 9, at 4:30 p.m. The regional final will be played on Saturday, November 10, at 7 p.m.
