Volleyball heads into CAC tournament with No. 2 seed
ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.
– The Salisbury University volleyball team will begin the Capital Athletic Conference tournament next week as the No. 2 seed. The maroon and gold will host Wesley College on Tuesday, October 30, at 7 p.m. in the Maggs Center.

Both Salisbury (24-9) and Gallaudet University finished the regular-season with 7-1 conference records but the Bison earned the No. 1 seed because they defeated the Sea Gulls in the head-to-head matchup last week. The Sea Gulls, now ranked fifth in the Mid-Atlantic region, will look to win their fourth CAC championship and first since 2004. SU has won three titles (1998, 2000, ’04) since it has been in the conference.

The Sea Gulls defeated the Wolverines earlier this season to the tune of 30-16, 30-15, 30-22 on the road in Dover, Del., on September 19. The Sea Gulls have dominated early in matches as they have combined to win 77 of 99 games in the first three sets. SU has won 18 of its 24 victories with a 3-0 sweep.

The Salisbury-Wesley winner will face the winner between No. 3 seed York (Pa.) College and No. 6 seed Villa Julie College on Thursday, November 1.

In the other bracket No. 1 seed Gallaudet will host No. 8 seed Marymount (Va.) University with the winner advancing to face the winner between No. 4 seed St. Mary's (Md.) College and No. 5 seed University of Mary Washington.

All quarterfinal games are scheduled to be played on Tuesday, October 30. The semifinals will take place on Thursday, November 1, with the championship slated to be held on Saturday, November 3 at the site of the highest remaining seed.
