Akers breaks her own school record as Rowan sweeps Salisbury
GLASSBORO, N.J. – Freshman Becky Akers continues to impress early on into the 2007-08 swim season for Salisbury University. Akers shaved 11 seconds off her own school record (11:08.77) in the 1,000 yard freestyle that she set last Saturday, three days ago, in Washington, D.C. Akers' first place finish helped the Sea Gulls (1-2) break 100 points but the end result was Rowan University victorious with a 152-110 win. The Profs also won the men's meet with a 165-97 victory over the Sea Gulls (1-2).

Katy Turner, another freshman on the SU women's team, had two first-place finishes in the 100 and 200 butterfly. She finished the 100 fly with a time of 1:02.65 and the 200 fly in 2:19.34.

On the men's side, fifth-year senior Cole Mangum won the 50 free with a time of 22.62 while freshman Drew Robichaud won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:05.10.

The Sea Gulls return to action next week for a mid-week meet (Wednesday, November 7) against Eastern Shore rival Washington (Md.) College on the road in Chestertown, Md., at 6 p.m.
