SU Athletics Hall of Fame Adds Four
Inductees in 2004
Salisbury University added four new members to its Athletics Hall of Fame
during Homecoming Weekend festivities in October.
The newest inductees were officially honored at a dinner banquet on
Friday, October 15. The 2004 inductees are:
Glenn Norris ’81, a
first team All-America lacrosse midfielder who was also a two-time team MVP.
Norris was a two-time team captain and led the Sea Gulls in scoring as a senior
with 49 goals and 82 points. He also played in the 1981 North-South All-Star
Game and was selected to the Maryland State Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2002.
Cindy Daugherty ’85,
earned All-America track & field honors in the heptathlon in 1982. She was
the team MVP as a senior and still holds school records in the heptathlon (4,447
points) and the shot put (39’1”). She
was a four-time letterwinner in both track and basketball.
Dawn Webb Bracley’90,
a four-year basketball standout, finished her career as the school’s all-time
scoring and rebounding leader. She continues to share the single-game scoring
record of 40 points. Her 480 rebounds in 1989 led the nation and still ranks as
the SU season record. She finished
with 1,503 career points, 1,254 rebounds and 150 blocked shots.
Kevin Hohner ’92, a
three-time lacrosse All-American who helped lead Salisbury to its first number
one ranking and NCAA championship game appearance in 1991. Hohner, a midfielder,
was team MVP as a senior and selected for the North-South All-Star Game. He also
served as team captain in 1991 and 1992.
The Hall of Fame was initiated in 1985 to honor those who have made outstanding
contributions to Salisbury’s athletic heritage.
The addition of these four inductees brings the Hall's membership to 83.
Selection for the Hall of Fame is the highest honor that
the University can bestow upon one of its former student-athletes or coaches. To
be eligible, an individual must have graduated from the University at least 10
years earlier or be retired as a coach. Each honoree
now has a permanent plaque added to the
Hall of Fame display case in the Maggs Physical Activities Center.
