SU Athletics Hall of Fame Adds Three in 2002

Salisbury University added three new members to its Athletics Hall of Fame during Homecoming Weekend festivities.  The newest inductees were officially honored at a dinner banquet on Friday, November 1.  The 2002 inductees are:

Harry “Clarke” Cugler ’50, a three-year letterwinner on the soccer, baseball and basketball teams after transferring from the University of Maryland. Cugler served as team captain in both soccer and baseball
and was selected as the University’s ‘Best Male Athlete’ in 1950.

Cheryl Ish ’92, a four-sport athlete who earned 13 varsity letters. Ish
was a three-time field hockey all-American and the team’s leading
scorer in each of her four seasons. She also graduated with three
school records in track & field and ranks among the career scoring leaders in lacrosse.

Andre Foreman ’92, a two-time basketball all-American who was also named as the NCAA Division III player of the year in 1992. Foreman
led the Sea Gulls in scoring and rebounding in each of his four seasons, was a four-time team MVP and still ranks as the all-time scoring leader
in NCAA Division III history.

The Hall of Fame was initiated in 1985 to honor those who have made outstanding contributions to Salisbury’s athletic heritage.  The addition of these three inductees brings the Hall's membership to 76.

Selection for the Hall of Fame is the highest honor that the University can bestow upon one of its former student-athletes or coaches. To be eligible, an individual must have graduated from the University at least 10 years earlier or be retired as a coach.
