Salisbury 3, Rutgers-Camden 0
NCAA Division III Softball Tournament - Regional Final
Monday, May 10, 2004

Box Score
Salisbury, Md - Senior 1B Rosie Aley’s bases loaded double in the top of the seventh inning accounted for all the scoring and sophomore pitcher Lacey Lister tossed a two-hit shutout to lead #2 ranked Salisbury to a 3-0 victory over Rutgers-Camden in the regional final of NCAA Division III Softball Tournament Monday.

Salisbury (38-6) returns to the Division III World Series for the third straight season and begins play on Friday in Salem, VA against Alma (MI) College. Friday’s game time is at 1:30 pm.

SU’s Lister and RCU’s Michelle Schlichtig (21-6) matched up in their third pitcher’s dual in three days. Both pitchers carried shutouts into the seventh inning of today’s game before Salisbury reached Schlichtig for three runs on two hits in the seventh inning.

Sophomore SS Kristy Shaffer (2-for-3) opened the frame with a single to left and advanced to second as junior Kareem Falcon reached on a fielder’s choice. Kim Rementer’s sacrifice moved both runners up, and freshman CF Serena Fleming walked to load the bases. Aley (2-for-3) then stroked her second double of the game over the leftfielder’s head to clear the bases.

Aley finished as the leading hitter in the regional tournament with a .600 average and five RBI in four games. Lister (28-2) recorded her 16th shutout of the season and third in four games in the regional. She allowed just one run in 30 innings during the four-day regional, working to a 0.23 ERA.

Lister, Aley, Rementer, Nichole Fuqua and Leslie White were named to the all-tournament team for Salisbury.  Schlichtig, Ashley O’Brien, Autumn Millet, and Becky Johnson received all-tournament honors for Rutgers-Camden, which finishes the season with a 34-10 record.
