Saturday's Game Summaries
#4 Cabrini 8, #6 Mary Baldwin 0 (5 inn)
Cabrini scored three runs in the first and four more in the third inning as the Lady Cavaliers knocked off Mary Baldwin 8-0 in five innings. Eight different Cabrini players recorded hits in the game, with five players finishing the contest with multiple hits. Shortstop Jen Prenderville (1-for-2, RBI) and 2B Brooke Peterdozzi (2-for-3, 2 RBI) both had key doubles for the Lady Cavs.

Angela Templin (15-3) went the distance on the mound for the Lady Cavaliers (34-11) and recorded the win, throwing a three-hit shutout. She also struck out eight. Denise Michael (14-10) took the loss for the Fighting Squirrels (21-18).

Jen Euganeo (2-for-3), Jen Taggart (2-for-4), Shannon Murphy (2-for-3, 2 RBI) and Mary Adam (2-for-3, RBI), had two hits apiece for Cabrini.


#2 King’s 11, #5 McDaniel 0  (5 inn)
Nikki Kortula pitched a three-hit shutout and SS Stacey Preambo hit her 16th home run of the season as King’s stopped McDaniel 11-0 in five innings.

Kortula (14-2) struck out three and kept the Green Terror offense in check, while Preambo went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored for the Lady Monarchs. Second baseman Kelley Vaxmonsky and 1B Maria Zangardi both had a pair of hits for King’s (38-9), while Kim Camponelli connected with a double for McDaniel (27-11).

Camponelli (12-6) took the loss on the hill for Green Terror, allowing five earned runs (11 total) while fanning three.


#1 Salisbury 1, #3 Rutgers-Camden 0
Salisbury sophomore pitcher Lacey Lister (27-1) threw a complete-game three-hitter and won a pitching dual with Rutgers-Camden’s Michelle Schlichtig as the Sea Gulls (37-5) advanced to Sunday’s regional championship game (2 pm) with a 1-0 victory. Lister struck out six and walked four while recording her 15th shutout of the season. Schlichtig (19-6) took the loss despite giving up only an unearned run and fanning 10.  The Scarlet Raptors fall to 32-9 overall.

Salisbury scored its lone run in the third inning when Nichole Fuqua (2-for-3) scored after reaching base on an infield single and moving to second on a fielder’s choice. She later crossed the plate when Rosie Aley (1-for-3) reached on an error by the left fielder.


#2 King’s 5, #4 Cabrini 2
Second-seeded King’s eliminated Cabrini and advanced to Sunday’s semi-final contest with a 5-2 victory over #4-seed Cabrini. Sarah Genewski and Nikki Kotula combined for the victory. Genewski (18-5) worked five innings on the hill, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits while striking out one. Kotula pitched two hitless innings for her fourth save of the season.

Second baseman Kelley Vaxmonsky (2-for-4, 2B, 2R), 1B Maria Zangardi (2-for-4, 3 RBI, 2B, 1R) and catcher Kristen Brady (1-for-3, 2B, RBI) led the offensive attack for King’s (39-9).

Templin (15-4) took the loss for Lady Cavaliers (34-12) on the hill. Brooke Peterdozzi led the Cabrini offensive with a 2-for-3 game. King's faces Rutgers-Camden at 12 noon Sunday in an elimination game. The winner faces Salisbury in the regional final at 2 pm.
