Sea Gulls one win away from
CAC title
SALISBURY, Md. -
The Salisbury University softball team scored seven runs in the final three
innings to defeat Catholic University 10-2 in six innings on Saturday afternoon
in a Capital Athletic Conference tournament game here at Sea Gull Field.
Salisbury (27-7) advances to Sunday's championship round where the
top-seeded maroon and gold will face either No. 2 seed York (Pa.) or No. 3 seed
Catholic after the two play the morning game. The Sea Gulls are aiming for their
11th consecutive CAC title and 12th overall.
Freshman Jen Cahall
had two of Salisbury's four doubles in the win as the right fielder scored three
times. Senior catcher Tee Dronenburg knocked in two runs and center
fielder Kurisha Hoffman went 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs and a
run scored. Sophomore Stacy Davis (11-3) picked up the win in the circle
for the Sea Gulls.
York and Catholic met in
the first game of the CAC tournament on Saturday morning as the Cardinals won
4-1. The Spartans staved off elimination with an 11-3 victory that bounced No. 4
seed Mary Washington.
