SU softball to host clinic this
weekend to benefit Relay for Life
SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury
University softball team will hold its sixth annual SU softball clinic on
Sunday, February 18, from Noon until 4 p.m. at North Caroline High School to
benefit Caroline County’s Relay for Life. The Sea Gulls will run a clinic for
girls 8-13 years old from Noon until 1:45 p.m. followed by a clinic for girls 14
and older from 2-3:45 p.m.
The clinic hits home for SU coach Margie Knight
who coached the North Caroline High School volleyball and softball teams for 13
years before returning to her alma mater, SU class of 1979, to coach the same
sports for the Sea Gulls. At North Caroline, Knight led the Bulldogs to three
Maryland state championships (softball 1988, ’91 and volleyball 1990). Knight
compiled a 392-77 combined record in both sports during her tenure at NCHS.
"As a former member of the Caroline County
community (17 years), I jumped at the opportunity to give back to an area that
means so much to me personally," said Knight. "It is really special to have my
softball team join me in this cause. The student-athletes get to see how their
passion for softball, plus a little donated personal time, can enhance other
people’s lives and make a difference."
For more information about the clinic contact
Bev Ward at 410-479-2332 at NCHS. The Caroline County Relay for Life will be
held on June 15, 2007.
