Sea Gulls
sweep Blazers in straight sets
FREDERICK, Md. –
The Salisbury University men’s tennis team made short work of Capital Athletic
Conference opponent Hood College on Tuesday afternoon as the Sea Gulls glided to
a 9-0 sweep of the Blazers.
Salisbury
(12-3, 4-1 CAC) was without the services of sophomore Matt Nicholson and
junior Brendan Kincaid for the day as freshmen Scott Burtzlaff and
Evan Thomas took over the top two singles spots and rolled to straight
set victories.
Burtzlaff
and Thomas later teamed up in doubles competition as the two won 8-0 over the
top Hood (5-8, 1-3 CAC) pair of Mogo Nkate and Carlos Funes, 8-0, to improve to
13-2 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
Junior
Dean Sonetirot, sophomores Sasha Felikson and Chris Haines and
freshman Jason Williams all won their singles matches.
The Sea
Gulls return to the court at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, April 5, as they host
Haverford in a Atlantic South regional match at the SU Tennis Complex.
