Salisbury
men's tennis returns to the CAC championship match
SALISBURY, Md. -
The Salisbury University men's tennis team had little trouble in its Capital
Athletic Conference semifinal match against No. 3 seed York (Pa.) College here
Thursday at the SU Tennis Center. The No. 2 seed Sea Gulls won 8-1 to move onto
Saturday’s CAC championship match.
Salisbury (16-6) will face the winner of Friday's CAC semifinal match
between top-seed and nationally ranked University of Mary Washington or No. 5
seed Goucher College. The No. 14 Eagles have won the last seven CAC titles since
the Sea Gulls won four in a row from 1996-99. Mary Washington is also ranked No.
4 in the Atlantic South region five spots ahead of Salisbury.
Junior
Brendan Kincaid (10-8) won the No. 1 singles match against York's Tim Mowrer,
6-1, 6-0. Freshman Evan Thomas (19-2) won his second match at No. 2
singles this season with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Dave Tabachnik. Sophomore
Sasha Felikson (10-8) won the No. 3 singles match 6-1, 6-3 over Joel
Trimmer. The final three singles matches only played one set. Spartan Jeff
Mansfield secured the lone point for York (Pa.) in No. 6 singles, 6-4. Salisbury
swept all three doubles matches with identical 8-2 outcomes.
