Markus Hunkeler has completed his first season as assistant coach for the Salisbury University men's soccer team. Hunkeler graduated from SU with a major in Business Finance and was a three-year starter for Salisbury University, helping the Sea Gulls to their first-ever NCAA Final Four appearance in 2004. He led SU to a four-year record of 66-10-8 record, which included a 24-4 Capital Athletic Conference mark and three CAC championships. In addition to the Final Four appearance, Salisbury also advanced to the Quarterfinals in 2003.

Hunkeler played in 76 games during his four-year playing career at Salisbury. The back from Damascus, Md. scored two goals and added eight assists, scoring 12 points during his career. He also tallied two game-winning goals.

Post-season honors for Hunkeler included being named a Second Team All-CAC performer in 2003 and a First Team All-CAC player in 2004. He was also named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of American All-South Region First Team in 2004 and was a Second Team CoSIDA Academic All-District II team member as well.
