Salisbury 2, NC Wesleyan 1

Rocky Mount, NC - The sixth-ranked Salisbury men's soccer team remained unbeaten with a 2-1 come-from-behind non-conference win at #22 North Carolina Wesleyan Saturday.

Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Sea Gulls (7-0-1) rebounded with second half goals by junior Bill Whittington (assisted by Chris Mills) at 62:17, and junior Chris Tracy (assisted by JJ King) at 74:54. Junior goalie Jason Cranford recorded five saves in goal for the Sea Gulls, who also claimed their fifth straight win.

Salisbury finished with an 11-8 edge in shots and 6-4 advantage in corner kicks. The Sea Gulls return to conference play with a home game Wednesday (4 pm) against St. Mary's.



Salisbury 0, St. Mary's 0 (2ot)
Women's Soccer

Salisbury, Md - The Sea Gulls and Seahawks battled through 110 minutes of scoreless soccer to finish in a 0-0 Capital Athletic Conference tie. Salisbury falls to 3-4-1 overall (2-0-1 CAC), while St. Mary's is now 1-4-2 overall (0-2-1 CAC).

Junior goalie Katie Hendrickson finished with seven saves to register her fourth shutout of the season. STM's Jessy Leonard also finished with seven saves for the St. Mary's shutout. Salisbury outshot St. Mary's 14-9.

The Sea Gulls continue conference action next Saturday with a visit to Mary Washington.


Salisbury 5, York 2
Field Hockey

Salisbury, Md - The #2 ranked and defending NCAA Division III champion Salisbury field hockey team remained unbeaten with a 5-2 Capital Athletic Conference win over York Saturday.

Junior Brittany Elliott and sophomore Megan Powell each scored twice and added one assist as the Sea Gulls improved to 8-0 overall (2-0 CAC). York falls to 3-4 overall (1-2 CAC). Senior Erin Budd added one goal and one assist for the Gulls, while senior Melissa Webster finished with one assist.

Salisbury led 2-1 at halftime before Elliott and Powell each added their second goals to push the margin to 4-1 with with 21 minutes remaining. York's Becky McCall then scored her second goal of the contest with 17:21 left to pull the Spartans to within two. Budd's closing marker at 13:54 capped the scoring.

Salisbury finished with a 36-2 advantage in total shots, and 19-0 edge in penalty corner opportunities. Goalie Maria Ramoundos finished with no saves, while  York's Meg Eckenrode finished with 30 saves for the Spartans.
