SALISBURY, Md. - The
No. 1 seed Salisbury University men's soccer team defeated No. 8 seed Hood
College in the Capital Athletic Conference quarterfinals, 9-0, on Saturday
afternoon. The Gulls were
powered by their youth as three freshmen combined to score eight of the team's
nine goals on the A-turf field at Sea Gull Stadium.
Salisbury (13-4-1) was paced by freshmen Mike Napolitano and Chris
Finney who combined for seven goals and one assist. Napolitano scored three
straight goals in the first 17 minutes to start the game and added his fourth in
the second half which was a highlight reel goal scored off a SU corner kick.
Napolitano now has nine goals on the season to go along with one assist.
Finney also had a hat trick as he netted three scores and added an assist with a
quick touch pass to sophomore Greg Taylor (two assists) who then passed
to a wide open Chas Gray who put it home in the 87th minute.
SU also received a goal from freshman Ben DeLisle who pounded home a pass
from freshman Dustin McVey (two assists). Other Gulls who added assists
were seniors Andrew Henciak (two assists) and Zach Grubb while

of the year as he played the entire first half. Sophomore Josh Scotton
and freshman Brandon Mumby each saw some valuable time as they played 26
and 19 minutes, respectively.
