Men's Basketball
Salisbury -Senior guard Dave
Carter scored 18 points and sophomore forward Jared Yoder added 14 to lead
Messiah to a 70-54 non-conference win at Salisbury. Messiah (10-2) used an 18-4
first half run to rebound from an early six-pont deficit and gain the lead they
would not lose the rest of the game. The Falcons led 33-23 at halftime.
Salisbury (6-6) pulled to within seven at
35-28 early in the second half, but would get no closer. Messiah led by as many
as 25 points in the second half before closing with the 70-54 final.
Sophomore guard Segun Odumeru led
Salisbury with a game-high 26 points. Junior guard Derrick Washington
contributed 11 points and a team-high four assists.
The Sea Gulls, who had their two-game
winning streak snapped, return to action Sunday with another non-conference
game. SU visits Christopher Newport at 4 pm.
King's 75, Salisbury 51
Women's Basketball
Wilkes-Barre, PA - Salisbury forwards Kat
Kordal and Kiera Watkins scored 14 and 12 points, respectively, but it wasn't
enough as the Sea Gulls lost 75-51 to host King's in Saturday's championship
game of the Lady Monarch Classic.
King's built a 38-15 first half lead and never trailed while improving to 11-1
on the year. Salisbury falls to 8-4 overall. Kordal and Watkins were both named
to the five-player all-tournament team.
The Sea Gulls advanced to Saturday's championship game with a 74-69 win over
Susquehanna in Friday's opener. Watkins and guard Meghan Phillips paced SU in
that game with 17 points apeice. Kordal added nine points and a team-high 11
rebounds.
Salisbury returns home to host New Jersey on Monday at 6 pm.
