Salisbury first defeat SUNY Brockport (1-0, 1-0 ACFC) was led by sophomore quarterback Zach Luke who passed for 157 yards and two touchdown passes to senior tight end Mike Bond. The Sea Gulls (1-1, 0-1 ACFC) struggled offensively as junior quarterback Justyn Lankford completed 5-of-11 for 42 yards and backup quarterback Ronnie Curley completed 2-of-3 for 31 yards. Junior co-captain Jamar Garner led all Sea Gulls rushing the ball with nine carries for 43 yards. The Golden Eagles stuck first in the first quarter as Luke hit Bond for the three-yard touchdown at the 7:46 mark to cap a 14 play, 82-yard drive. Salisbury got on the scoreboard at the start of the second quarter as junior kicker Brendan Kincaid booted a 23-yard kick through the uprights to cut the SUNY Brockport lead to four, 7-3. It all went downhill for the Sea Gulls, right before halftime with four minutes left, as the Golden Eagles faced a 4th and 7 and went for it. Luke rolled out and found Bond who broke several tackles before racing down the sideline to the end zone to give SUNY Brockport the lead at the half, 14-3. In the second half the miscues continued for Salisbury as SUNY Brockport defensive end Al Lucci picked a Lankford fumble and ran it in from 32 yards out to increase the Golden Eagles' lead to 21-3. Salisbury will return to action next Saturday, September 16 as the Sea Gulls welcome Christopher Newport University in a non-conference game. NOTES: Salisbury still leads the series against SUNY Brockport, 3-1.
