Salisbury linebacker Chris Loveland headshotLoveland and Geisert named ACFC Players of the Week
SALISBURY, Md. –
The Salisbury University football program was recognized on Monday by the Atlantic Central Football Conference as two Sea Gulls garnered player of the week honors. Junior linebacker Chris Loveland and freshman punter Andrew Geisert were honored as the ACFC Defense and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively.

Loveland accounted for a team high eight tackles, four tackles for a loss, including the lone sack made by the Gulls in their 23-17 overtime loss at home to Christopher Newport University last Saturday, September 16. Loveland shared the ACFC Defense Player of the Week honor with SUNY Brockport linebacker Matthew Bennick.

Salisbury punter Andrew Geisert headshotGeisert made six punts against the Captains, averaging 39.5 yards per punt, and pinned CNU at the one and three yard lines in the first half. CNU only returned two of his punts for a total of three yards. This is the second time in three weeks that SU was recognized with the ACFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Junior Brendan Kincaid earned the award during the first week of the season.

The Sea Gulls (1-2, ACFC 0-1) will return to action on at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 23, as they travel to Montclair, N.J., to face Montclair State University.
