Chamberlin Named 2004 National Field Hockey Coach of the Year

Salisbury University’s Dawn Chamberlin has been named the national 2004 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Coach of the Year, as announced by the NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association).  Chamberlin receives the honor after leading the Sea Gulls to their second straight NCAA national championship in 2004.

Salisbury completed a 22-0 campaign with a 6-3 win over Middlebury in the NCAA final on November 20.  Chamberlin’s squad carries a school-record 33-game winning streak into the 2005 season.

In addition to winning the NCAA title, Salisbury captured its 10th straight Capital Athletic Conference championship in 2004. SU returned to the NCAA Tournament for the 20th time in 21 years while also advancing to the final four for the eighth time.

Chamberlin completed her 18th season at Salisbury with a career record of 263-78-8, including a 59-4 mark over the past three seasons. The program has produced 35 national All-Americans - including four more in 2004 - and 79 all-region players during Chamberlin's tenure.

Salisbury has also dominated the Capital Athletic Conference, sweeping the conference's Player of the Year and Coach of the Year awards for the fifth straight year in 2004.
