Salisbury tops Villa Julie 9-1 in first CAC meeting
OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Salisbury went on the road to welcome its newest Capital Athletic Conference opponent, Villa Julie College. It was a warm welcome for the Mustangs who were handed a 9-1 defeat by the three-time NCAA Division III national champions.

Salisbury senior Megan Powell recorded her second consecutive hat trick as she netted three first half goals. Powell's season total now stands at 20 goals, best in the conference and among the top 10 nationally.

Beverly Beladino notched two goals including the opening goal just 4:03 into the contest. Beladino also had Salisbury’s only assist of the game as the Gulls had eight unassisted marks.

The Sea Gulls (12-3, 4-1 CAC) held a 29-0 advantage in shots at halftime as SU led 8-0. Salisbury also held a 7-1 edge in penalty corners at the break against the Mustangs (5-10, 1-5).

Four Sea Gulls had one goal apiece including Ashley Twigg and Caitlyn Ruffus off the bench.

Meghan Melvin scored the lone Mustang goal in the second half to avoid the shutout.

Salisbury returns home for a tough conference test against University of Mary Washington on Saturday, October 21.
