Three-time defending champs No. 1 in first national poll of the season
SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University field
hockey team, the three-time defending NCAA Division III national champions, were
named the No. 1 ranked team in the first 2006 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches
Association coaches poll released on Tuesday, September 12. Salisbury received
38 first-place votes out of a possible 54.
The Sea
Gulls (5-0) are off to a perfect season thus far as they won three games this
past weekend in the Salisbury Invitational. SU currently has a 15-game winning
streak dating back to October 9, 2005.
Salisbury is on the road this week with two non-conference in-state
games against John Hopkins University and Frostburg State University. SU will
travel to Baltimore on Wednesday, September 13 for a 7 p.m. game under the
lights against the Blue Jays before venturing west this weekend for a Saturday,
September 16 game versus the Bobcats.
