Five Sea Gulls Named to All-CAC Squads

SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury field hockey team placed five players on 2005
All-CAC squads, the conference announced Thursday. Senior captain Brittany
Elliott (Delmar, DE/Delmar) and Dr. Dawn Chamberlin also received
individual recognition from the conference.
Elliott was named CAC Player
of the Year and was placed on the first team. She led the conference in scoring
with 55 points and a 3.06 points per game average. She also led the conference
in goals scored with 22 and assists with eleven. Elliott was joined on the first
team by teammates Tracey Lloyd (Delmar, MD/Delmar), Kim McLeod (Vienna,
VA/Madison), and Lynette Sgrignoli (Enola, PA/East Pennsboro).
Sgrignoli is second in the
conference in scoring with 39 points and a 2.29 points per game average. She is
also second in goals with 17. Lloyd is fourth on the Sea Gulls in scoring with
25 points, while McLeod is tied for ninth on the Sea Gulls with seven points.
Lloyd and McLeod are tied at third in the conference in assists with seven
apiece.
Junior Megan Powell
(Elkton, MD/Rising Sun) was named to the second team All-CAC. She is third
on the Sea Gulls in scoring with 36 points and fourth overall in the conference.
She is fourth in the conference in goals with 14 and second in the conference in
assists with eight.
Along with player
recognitions, Chamberlin was named 2005 CAC Coach of the Year. This was the
sixth straight season that the Sea Gulls have swept the conference Player of the
Year and Coach of the Year awards. York’s April McFarland was named CAC Rookie
of the Year.
The Sea Gulls will open their
NCAA tournament play on Saturday as they host Oberlin College at 10:00 a.m.
Oberlin advanced to the second round after they defeated Lebanon Valley, 1-0, on
Wednesday in Oberlin, OH.
