second, men fourth at NYU Invitational In what could be a preview of the Capital Athletic Conference championships, the men edged out the University of Mary Washington as they totaled 142 points to UMW’s 170. The women finished eight points behind the Eagles as the two CAC rivals totaled 94 and 102 points, respectively. Senior Eric Graves was the top Sea Gull finisher as he placed fifth overall with a time of 26:13. Fellow senior Buck Stokes and junior Zack Dickerson finished 22nd and 23rd as they ran times of 27:15 and 27:18, respectively. Freshman Chris Barnard ran the five-mile race in 28 minutes flat to place him 39th and junior Ben Thomas finished with a time of 28:22 in 59th place. As a team the Sea Gulls were behind Shippensburg University who finished with 113 points in third place. Johns Hopkins University was second with 108 points and New York University won the team event with 37 points. Senior Casey McInerny was the top Salisbury female runner as she finished the 5K race in 20:01 which placed her in eighth overall. Junior Kelly Sullivan finished eight seconds behind McInerny in ninth place. Senior Zuzka O’Zwoldike, freshman Kristin Stromberg and junior Jenn Bulger rounded out the top five for the maroon and gold as they placed 22nd, 24th and 39th with times of 20:44, 20:51 and 21:20, respectively. The SU women’s team finished eight points ahead of third place Shippensburg. The top men’s runner was New York Institute of Technology’s Evans Kigen who ran a 25:45 and the top female runner was Adelphi’s Ify Anene who ran a 19:11. The cross country team is off next week and will return to action on Saturday, September 29, as they host the Don Cathcart Invitational at 10 a.m. at Winter Place Park. NYU Invitational
