Men's cross country sweeps CAC awards, 14 Sea Gulls earn All-CAC recognition
ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. -
The Capital Athletic Conference officially announced its 2007 All-CAC men's and women's cross country teams and award recipients this week after last Saturday's CAC championships in York, Pa., determined the outcome of these awards and all-conference teams. Salisbury University led the way as the Sea Gulls placed a total of 14 student-athletes on the various men's and women's teams.

Salisbury's men's team, the three-time defending CAC champions, had four runners on the first team and three on the second team. SU swept the three men's CAC awards as senior Eric Graves earned CAC Men’s Runner of the Year, freshman Chris Barnard earned CAC Men's Rookie of the Year and SU coach Jim Jones was selected for his sixth CAC Men's Coach of the Year award.

The SU men's first team runners in addition to Graves and Barnard are senior Buck Stokes and junior Zach Dickerson.

Graves and Stokes earn their third consecutive All-CAC first team honors as they finished first and third, respectively, in this season's CAC championships. Graves won the 8K race with a time of 26:04, which was 30 seconds faster than the next runner who finished second.

Juniors Roland Lane (11th place, 27:39) and Ben Thomas (15th place, 27:38) along with freshman Sam Boimov (12th place, 27:34) secured second team honors for finishing in the top 15 at the CAC championships.

The SU women's team had two first team runners led by junior Kelly Sullivan and senior Casey McInerny, who finished the 6K race third and fourth overall with times of 23:24 and 23:51, respectively. Sullivan, last season's CAC Runner of the Year and the 2005 CAC Co-Rookie of the Year, has made the CAC first team for three consecutive seasons. McInerny is making her third appearance on the all-conference first team, her first since 2005.

Salisbury had five runners earn a spot on the all-conference second team which includes freshman Kristin Stromberg (8th place, 24:17), senior Zuzka O'Zwoldike (9th place, 24:26), junior Amy DeMichele (10th place, 24:27), freshman Masha Berge (14th place, 24:42) and junior Jenn Bulger (15th place, 24:43).

This is the second year in a row that O'Zwoldike earned All-CAC second team honors. She made the all-conference first team in 2005. This is Bulger's second appearance on a CAC cross country all-conference team as she made first team in 2006.

Coach Jones has earned eight CAC Cross Country Coach of the Year awards (six men's awards and two women's awards) since he took over the SU program in 2001. Jones is also the coach for the SU men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field programs.
