Game Summary Sea Gull junior pitcher Brian Shipe (1-0) recorded his first victory of the season, throwing seven innings of shutout baseball. He scattered five hits while striking out eight and walking two, lowering his ERA to 1.89. Mike Williams and Dan Oleynik combined to work the final two frames. Freshman Adam Sandt was tagged with the loss for Sevens Tech. He gave up seven runs (six earned) on seven hits while walking four and fanning four. SU senior designated hitter Rob Kassekert went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, four RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore second baseman Greg Lemon was 3-for-4 with a triple and three runs scored, sophomore Jason Lively was 2-for-3 with three runs, three runs batted in, a pair of walks and two stolen bases. Junior outfielder Galen Morres went 2-for-4 while driving in a run and triple and sophomore first baseman Nick Pegelow homered, drove in two runs and scored two more. Junior shortstop Jeff Drobik went 2-for-3 to pace the Ducks, while sophomore centerfielder Tim Meehan went 3-for-5 with a RBI and a run scored. After a scoreless first frame, the Sea Gulls scored a run in the second and third innings, then built an 11-0 lead with five runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth. Salisbury led 14-0 before the Ducks battled back with a five-run ninth. Salisbury will be back in action
Wednesday when the Gulls return to CAC action at Catholic. SU will return home
