Collegiate Baseball Newspaper preseason poll Salisbury, the 2007 Capital Athletic Conference champions, received 185 points which were two shy of CAC rival York (Pa.) College, ranked No. 25. Last season, the Sea Gulls were ranked No. 21 in the same preseason poll and No. 26 in the American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball Division III preseason poll. The Sea Gulls will look to build off of their 33-10 record from a season ago. The maroon and gold successfully defended its CAC title, seventh overall, and made their eighth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. SU will have to replace second team All-American outfielder Andrew Jensen, who graduated. There are two preseason top 30 teams on Salisbury's 2008 schedule. The Sea Gulls will face the aforementioned Spartans on the road on March 5 before hosting York three days later in Salisbury, Md. The maroon and gold will travel to No. 10 Johns Hopkins University on April 29. The Sea Gulls also will host Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, who received votes in the poll, on March 22. Salisbury begins its 2008 season on the road Saturday, February 9, at Noon against Virginia Wesleyan College. • 2008 Division III Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Preseason Poll
