Salisbury double trouble for Wesley
SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 26 Salisbury University baseball team hit six doubles in its 16-2 victory over Route 13 rival Wesley College on Monday afternoon at Sea Gull Field. Salisbury leads the Capital Athletic Conference in doubles with 45 which is 25 more then the next closes team.

SU freshman Mike Celenza belted two of the Sea Gulls' five doubles in the seven-run fourth inning. The first baseman now has a team leading 10 doubles for the season. In that same inning, senior third baseman Alex Vitale (3-for-5, five RBI, three runs) hit a three-run double to centerfield. Vitale later added a two-run homerun in the sixth inning. Catcher Pete Callahan (3-for-4, three RBI, two runs) also blasted a solo shot in the sixth and back-up catcher Tyler Riley led off the eighth inning with a solo homer.

Sea Gull senior Andrew Jensen (two RBI, two runs) extended his hitting streak to 13 games as he went 2-for-4 at the plate. CAC Player of the Week Mark Bostwick, fresh off hitting for the cycle on Saturday, went 0-for-4 to snap his 10-game hitting streak.

SU pitcher Ryan Bennick (4-0) pitched seven innings (no earned runs, seven strikeouts) to earn the win. Wesley starting pitcher Ryan Buckland (3-2) suffered the loss as he surrendered nine runs on nine hits in less then four innings of work.

Salisbury has won 12 games in a row and will place that streak on the line tomorrow afternoon as they host Virginia Wesleyan College at 2 p.m. The Marlins are the only team to beat the Gulls this season, a 4-0 shutout at the beginning of the season.
