Jensen
becomes ninth Sea Gull to be named All-American
APPLETON, Wis. –
Right fielder Andrew Jensen became the ninth Salisbury University
baseball player to earn All-American honors as the senior was named to the
second-team by the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association.
Jensen
led the Salisbury offense in 10 categories highlighted by his team-best .443
batting average. He had a team-high 175 at-bats (205 total plate appearances)
and was the toughest Sea Gull to strike out with a 25:1 at bat to strikeout
ratio (seven total strikeouts for the entire season).
The
Severna Park, Md. native is the third Sea Gull under head coach Doug Fleetwood's
tutelage to be named to an All-American team. Shortstop Greg Lemon was named to
the first-team in 2006 and right-handed ace Greg Lasinski garnered a spot on the
2004 second-team.
Jensen's
defense was nothing short of spectacular as he posted a perfect 1.000 fielding
percentage for his career. He was 58-of-58 on chances with 54 putouts and four
assists in 2007 and 261-of-261 for his career (248 putouts and 13 assists).
Jensen
was also named to the D3baseball.com All-American second-team last week and was
a first-team selection on the All-Capital Athletic Conference team.
