Celenza
named to Cal Ripken, Sr. All-League team
BALTIMORE –
Salisbury University first basemen Mike Celenza was honored by the Cal
Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League last week (September 13) as he was named
to the 2007 All-League team.
Celenza started 34 of the 35 summer league games for the College Park Bombers as
he batted a league-best .357. The Gaithersburg, Md., native also ranked in the
top five of the league in slugging percentage (2nd, .491) and on base percentage
(4th, .433).
The ’07 first-team All-Capital Athletic Conference performer finished his summer
league with 40 hits, nine doubles, two home runs, 18 RBI and 55 total bases.
The Bombers finished sixth in the league with a 15-24 record.
In his freshman campaign with the maroon and gold Celenza started all 43 games
for the Sea Gulls, batted .363, had 15 doubles and five home runs and knocked in
47 RBI.
