Sea Gulls get back
on track with win over SMC
ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Salisbury
University women’s basketball team snapped its three-game skid Saturday
afternoon with an impressive road win, 84-80, over Capital Athletic Conference
opponent St. Mary's College (Md.).
The Sea Gulls (9-5, 4-1 CAC)
were led by senior Jessica Mills who totaled a game-high 26 points and
eight rebounds. Junior Meghan Phillips and senior Meghan Klug
contributed 24 and 17 points each, respectively.
Salisbury trailed early in the
first half but went on a 12-0 run over the final 4:19 to close out the half and
take a 44-33 lead into the intermission.
The Sea Gulls built a 14-point
lead, their largest in the second half, but St. Mary's fought back to take a
six-point lead, 58-52, at 12:38. Salisbury regained the lead one-minute later
and never looked back as they went on for the four-point win.
St. Mary's (5-7, 0-5 CAC) was
led by Stephanie Saint-Aubi who scored a team-high 24 points.
The Sea Gulls will next play
on Wednesday, January 17, as they host Catholic University in a CAC game at the
Maggs Center at 5:30 p.m.
