Sea Gulls sweep Spartans
SALISBURY, Md. -
The Salisbury University men's and women's tennis team braved the cool temperatures Wednesday and defeated Capital Athletic Conference foe York (Pa.) College on the outdoor courts.

The men's team (14-5, 6-1 CAC), ranked No. 8 in the Atlantic South region, defeated the Spartans (8-6, 4-2 CAC) 9-0. The Sea Gulls shut out its sixth conference opponent this season. SU swept the doubles matches against the Spartans and won every singles matches. Junior Brendan Kincaid won the No. 1 singles match in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 10-7. Freshman Scott Burtzlaff, the reigning CAC Player of the Week, won the No. 2 singles match in straight sets and teamed with Kincaid to win No. 1 doubles 8-0. Fellow freshman Evan Thomas won No. 3 singles 6-4, 6-1.

On the women's side, Salisbury (10-7, 6-1 CAC) posted its sixth 9-0 shutout of the season, fourth in conference play. Seniors Erika Mitry and Jenny Rosler won the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches in straight sets, respectively. The two also won No. 1 doubles 8-0. The Gulls swept all three doubles points by a combined score of 24-2 against the Spartans (5-4, 1-4 CAC). SU, ranked No. 14 in the region, won all of the singles matches in straight sets.

The SU women's team turns around and faces Chowan tomorrow (Thursday, April 12) in a non-conference home match. The SU men's team will travel to Swarthmore on Sunday, April 15. The CAC tennis tournaments begin next week.
