Spriggs races past school records at
TCNJ Last Chance Meet
EWING, N.J. - Salisbury University
freshman Delannie Spriggs tied a school record in the 100 meter dash on
Thursday afternoon here at The College of New Jersey Last Chance Meet. Spriggs'
time of 10.57 hit the NCAA automatic qualifying time exactly as he won the
event. Spriggs edged out two runners from national power Lincoln University and
fellow teammate and freshman Justin Acker who was fourth (11.02).
Spriggs was apart of another school record as
the SU men's 4x100 meter relay team broke a 12-year-old record with a first
place time of 41.63. The old SU record of 41.69 was set in 1995. Acker led off
for the Gulls followed by Spriggs, freshman Wayne Turner and senior
anchor Marcus Tines. Lincoln was 12 tenths of a second off Salisbury's
pace.
Junior Casey McInerny ran in the women's
1500 meter run for the Sea Gulls and finished third with a time of 4:49.77.
Salisbury will now await the official
announcement of the NCAA Division III men's and women's track and field
championships this Sunday, May 20. The championships will be held from May 24-26
in Oshkosh, Wis.
