College sweeps Salisbury in midweek meet
SALISBURY, Md. -
Washington College took both the men's and women's swim meets with Eastern Shore
rival Salisbury University on Wednesday night at the Maggs Center. The
Shorewomen won the women’s meet 138-67 while the Shoremen edged out the Sea
Gulls 125-80.
Salisbury
senior Laura Allen came away with two first place finishes in the 200 IM and the
100 breaststroke. Allen's time in the 200 IM was 2:34.94, five seconds better
then Washington senior Ally Simons, and her time in the 100 breaststroke clocked
in at 1:18.38. Sophomore Laura Kordzikowski just missed a first place finish in
the 50 freestyle with a time of 29.41 (2nd place).
On the
men's side, senior Mike Fowler won the 100 freestyle with a time of 57.45 to
beat Washington freshman Dylan Pollock (57.50) by a tenth of a second. Three Sea
Gulls just missed on a first place finish themselves as junior Matt Anderson
(100 backstroke – 1:10.83), sophomore Ryan Forbes (400 freestyle – 4:49.47) and
freshman Mike Ferrari (100 breaststroke – 1:10.42) all took second in their
respective event.
Salisbury will be back in action this weekend as the Sea Gulls travel
to Northern Virginia to face Capital Athletic Conference foe Marymount and
in-state rival Frostburg State University on Saturday, November 11. The meet is
scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. in Arlington, Va.
