Rowan sails by Salisbury
SALISBURY, Md. –
The Salisbury University swimming program dropped a tough non-conference meet on
Tuesday evening at the Maggs Center to Rowan University. The Profs defeated the
Sea Gull men's team 160-103 and the women's team 163-121 en route to setting
three new pool records.
Rowan
junior Kevin Baker was part of two of those three new pool records. Baker won
the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:30.09 which was 23 seconds better then
Salisbury senior Steve Fowler who placed second. The Profs' Medley relay
team, which included Baker, finished with a time of 1:53.54. The Sea Gulls got
another second place finish out of Brad Buckley in the 100 breaststroke.
On the
women's side, the Sea Gulls earned five individual second place finishes. Senior
Laura Allen got second place in the 200 breaststroke and 800 free. Senior
Hilary Yates (200 free), sophomore Laura Kordzikowski (50 free)
and freshman Maureen Gillespie (100 breaststroke) all got second place in
their respective event.
Rowan
freshman Meghan McCourt set the other pool record in the 200 breaststroke with a
time of 2:48.13.
Salisbury will next be in action in just over a week as the Sea Gulls
host Eastern Shore rival Washington College at 6 p.m., November 8.
