Sea Gulls bury Gophers in regular-season finale The SU men's team (5-6, 4-4 CAC) won back-to-back meets for the first-time this season as the Sea Gulls defeated Goucher College 109-52 on Sunday afternoon at the von Borries Pool. On Saturday, SU took down St. Mary's (Md.) College on Senior Day at the Maggs Center with a 128-77 victory. Senior Cole Mangum had quite the weekend with five first-place finishes in two days. Mangum won the 50 and 100 freestyle against Goucher. On Saturday, the senior won the 50 free (25.09) and was part of two first-place relay teams, 200 medley relay (1:58.26) and 200 free relay (1:41.42). The Sea Gulls won four other events against the winless Gophers (0-8) on Sunday. Freshman Mike Ferrari won the 200 IM, freshman Sean Snee won the 1,000 free, sophomore Jaime Overholt won the 100 butterfly and senior Mike Fowler was the first to touch the wall in the 200 free. The SU women's team (5-6, 4-4 CAC) won six events against Goucher (3-7) on Sunday afternoon as the Sea Gulls won 120-85. Sophomore Laura Kordzikowski won the 500 free and was part of the first-place 200 medley relay team. Freshman Maureen Gillespie won the 100 breaststroke, sophomore Raienne South won the 200 free, junior Erin Smith won the 200 IM and the Gulls won the 200 free relay. The day before the Gulls lost a hard fought meet with St. Mary's (Md.) as the Sea Hawks edged SU, 107-99. Salisbury now begin preparing for the 2006-07 CAC championships which will be held on February 9-11 at St. Mary's (Md.) College in St. Mary's City, Md.
