names three Sea Gulls to All-Region team
SALISBURY,
Md. – The
National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced its annual
All-Region teams yesterday afternoon as it named two Sea Gulls to the first team
All-South and one to the third team. Senior co-captains Wijy Jones and
T.J. Nairn were selected as first team members while junior Dave Kroening
was named to the third team.
Jones
ranked second on the team this season in goals (9) and points (21). The
Millersville, Md. native recorded team highs in shots, 47, and shots on goal,
23. The first team All-Capital Athletic Conference forward scored goals in six
of his final seven games for the Sea Gulls as he finished his career with 45
points (17 goals, 11 assists). Jones ended the season ranked in the top 10 in
the CAC in points, points per game (1.24), goals and goals per game (0.53).
Nairn,
also a first team All-CAC selection, was a catalyst on the Sea Gulls No. 3
ranked defense in the CAC. The Bowie, Md. native led the defensive that
surrendered a mere 22 goals on the season (1.29 per game). In addition to his
stout defense, Nairn also netted a career high three goals, two of which came on
penalty kicks.
Kroening
recorded seven points this season on two goals and three assists. The Rochester,
N.Y. native started all 17 games this year as he was named to the first team
All-CAC as a midfielder.
