SALISBURY, Md. –
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its NSCAA/adidas 2006 NCAA Division III men's soccer preseason poll this week and the Sea Gulls from Salisbury found themselves in a familiar position, No. 14 in the nation.

Salisbury went 17-3-1 last season and lost to Stevens Institute of Technology (N.J.) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Gulls finished the season ranked No. 14 after being ranked as high as No. 3 during the 2005 preseason.

The Sea Gulls join Capital Athletic Conference foe York College (Pa.) in the preseason Top 25 poll. The Spartans are No. 10 after going 18-2-3 last season. York won the CAC championship as they defeated the Sea Gulls 1-0 here in Salisbury.

Besides York, the 2006 Salisbury schedule includes another preseason Top 10 ranked team. University of Rochester checks in at No. 8 and will visit Salisbury on Saturday, September 23. The Spartans travel to the Eastern Shore a week before on Saturday, September 16.

Salisbury begins its season hosting the Elmer Lord Memorial Classic on Saturday, September 2. The two-day tournament will feature teams from Ursinus College, Kean University and St. Mary’s College (Md.) from the CAC.
