NCAA Championship Preview: Salisbury vs. SUNY Cortland
BALTIMORE -
The top-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team had its final practice of the 2007 season on Saturday morning at M&T Bank Stadium the day before Sunday's NCAA Division III national championship game.

The Sea Gulls (22-0) will face No. 12 SUNY Cortland (15-5) in a rematch of last year's title game that the Red Dragons won 13-12 in overtime. The loss snapped Salisbury's 69-game winning streak, a NCAA men's lacrosse record and sixth all-time.

Cortland is one of the few teams to hold a series lead over Salisbury as the Red Dragons are 5-2 vs. the Sea Gulls. Cortland has won the last two meetings with Salisbury. SU last defeated the Red Dragons in 1991.

SU is led by senior attackman Eric Bishop who leads the team with 95 points (63 goals, 22 assists). Junior attackmen Greg Titus and Matt Hickman have scored 73 and 70 goals respectively. Besides Salisbury's ability to score on the offensive end of the field the Sea Gull defense is the best in the country as the maroon and gold has only allowed 4.82 goals per game. Senior Max Zarchin is second in Division III with a 5.18 goals against average.

Cortland is led by Ryan Heath's 50 goals and 32 assists (82 points) and Billy Fuchs (49g, 24a) who is one goal away from 50 for the season.

Salisbury has won six men's lacrosse national titles (1994, '95, '99, 2003, '04, '05) and 10 total in the history of the University (four field hockey national championships; 1986, 2003, '04, '05). In addition to last year's title the Red Dragons won the 1975 Division II men's lacrosse title.

The game will start at 1:30 p.m. and be televised live on CSTV (College Sports Television).
