SALISBURY, Md. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its 2006 All-CAC men's and women's cross country teams this week and Salisbury University stole the show. The Sea Gull men's and women's teams not only repeated as CAC champions but placed a total of 11 runners on the teams (seven first team, four second team). SU sophomore Kelly Sullivan received CAC Women's Runner of the Year and Coach Jim Jones was awarded CAC Men's Coach of the Year.

The SU women's team had three first-team runners; Kelly and her twin sister Glenna Sullivan and fellow sophomore Jenn Bulger. Freshman Emily Hammonds and junior Zuzka O’Zwoldike secured second team honors for finishing in the top 15 of the CAC championship race last weekend.

This is the second straight year that the Sullivan twins have been named All-CAC first team runners. To go along with her 2006 CAC runner of the year award, Kelly was 2005 CAC co-Rookie of the Year. The Phoenix, Md. native won three races on the year capped off with a win in the CAC championships. Glenna won the 2005 CAC Runner of the Year and finished second in the CAC championships this year.

O’Zwoldike, the Tuckerton, N.J. native, finished the 2006 conference championship in eighth place to earn second team honors. Last season, she earned 2005 All-CAC first team honors. She is joined on the second team by first-year runner Emily Hammonds from Richmond, Va.

Sophomore Jenn Bulger gets her first nod as a first-team runner in 2006. The Verona, N.J. native finished the year strong with a fifth place finish in the CAC’s. The SU women's team won two meets this season and never finished below third place in any meet.

The men had four first team runners led by senior Will Murdoch, juniors Buck Stokes and Eric Graves and freshman Dustin Yourstone. Second team selections were junior Carl Bickle and freshman Bill Nastasiak. The Sea Gulls had two team victories and six top three finishes.

Junior runners Stokes and Graves were awarded first team selections for the second consecutive year. Stokes, from Lothian, Md., was the first Sea Gull runner across the finish line in as he placed third behind two University of Mary Washington runners. Graves, a Catonsville, Md. native, rounded out the top five, at number five. Murdoch a senior from Bel Air, Md. finished fourth in the CAC championships and is joined on the first team by freshman Dustin Yourstone. The Ellicott City, Md. native finished in seven for the Gulls to help secure valuable points.

Second team runners Bickle and Nastasiak finished 11th and 13th, respectively, at the CAC championships. Bickle from Woolrich Township, N.J. is making his second straight appearance on the CAC second team. He is joined by fellow New Jersey native freshman Nastasiak, who hails from Point Pleasant.

Coach Jones received his seventh CAC Coach of the Year as he guided the men's team to a repeat title performance. The SU women’s team won its third straight CAC championship. This is nothing new for Jones who has five men's awards and two women’s in his collection. Jones is a graduate of Mount Union College ('91), where he was a four-year member of both the cross country and track and field teams.
