Salisbury impressive at Towson Invitational
SU's men's team wins, women's team takes second, Kelly Sullivan wins her second straight

COCKEYSVILLE, Md. – A week after losing to the United State Naval Academy the Salisbury University men's cross country team turned the tables and won first place in the 2006 Towson University Invitational at Oregon Ridge Park.

Salisbury runner Will MurdochSalisbury senior Will Murdoch had a photo finish with University of Maryland Eastern Shore's Alfred Singoei as both runners finished with a time of 26:59. Singoei's time was 34 tenths better then Murdoch's as the Sea Gull finished second.

Salisbury juniors Eric Graves (27:33), Buck Stokes (27:39) and Carl Blickle finished fourth, fifth and ninth, respectively. Sophomore Zack Dickerson (28:14) finished just out of the top-10 by one place. The Sea Gulls terrific finish gave SU 28 points and the victory.

Navy (42) and Millersville (96) rounded out the top three spots on the men's side.

Salisbury sophomore Kelly Sullivan won her second race in a row, to begin the season, as she crossed the finish line with a time 18:41 through the women's 5,000-meter course.  Kelly's twin sister, Glenna (19:28), was close behind in seventh place followed by teammate Amanda Hill (19:39) in ninth.

The Sea Gulls compiled 45 team points, good enough for second place, as they were nudged out by the host Towson for the women's crown. The Tigers had four runners finish in the top-10. Millersville was a distant third with 115 points.

The Salisbury cross country teams will next be in action on Saturday, September 16 as they will head north to the Waynesburg Invitational in Pennsylvania.
