SU sweeps CAC Cross Country Weekly Honors
SALISBURY, Md. – Hot off a strong opening weekend at the Sea Gull Opener the
Salisbury University cross country program was honored with two runners being
named the Capital Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Athletes
of the Week.
Sophomore
Kelly Sullivan won the women's 6,000-meter race on Saturday morning at Winter
Place Park here with a time of 22:10. For her performance Sullivan was named CAC
Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
The Sea
Gulls women's team won the Sea Gull Opener for the first time in the race's
nine-year history. SU had three runners finish in the top-5 and compiled 47 team
points.
Senior
Will Murdoch came in sixth place at the Sea Gull Opener with a time of 26:04.
Murdoch was tabbed as the CAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week as the Sea
Gulls finished in second place and Murdoch shaved over 30 seconds off his time
from a year ago on the same course.
Salisbury will next race in
the Towson University Invitational next Saturday at Oregon Ridge Park in
Cockeysville, Md.
