Arc Welding

An arc Welder uses electricity to fuse metal together.  Manly used for fairest metals i.e.. steel or iron.  An Arc welder heats and adds metal to form a weld.  A negative lead is attached to the work that is to be welded.  The positive electrode  holds the flux coated welding rod.  When the rod is held near the grounded work a high voltage arc is formed.  This arc is very bright and can permanently damage your eyes.  The ultra violet radiation given off can also cause sunburn.  When arc welding leather gloves, long sleeves and a number ten or greater lens should be used with a face shield.
