Fall 2001 Syllabus

Course description: Studio practice combined with critical discourse on contemporary issues of 3-d art as it pertains to glass. Establish criteria for artistic strivings, through assignments, research, and critiques. Students are required to maintain detailed Sketch book make technical notes, slides of their work, and participate in 8 hours lab per week.

Research Mid -term: Find 3 examples of what you want to create for your midterm review. For example if you wanted to explore photo printing on glass: you might explore
Polaroid Photo transfer, Blue Printing & Liquid Light, Or Photo sensitive silk screen with & fired on enamel , mask printing with acid etch & decals.

Proposal: Write a proposal that explains what you intend to explore, what you expect to discover, and it will effect the final art object.

Make 6 examples of each process you choose.
For Mid- term Critique explore, Materials, form and the process you like best.

Make at least 3 examples of finished work for critique:

Drawing assignment: 7 Sketches of your mid term project show what you like the most about your work. (to be shown at critique)
Next week MIDTERM Artist statement, Slides and Drawings must be shown to receive full credit.
Slides must be labeled and in a slide sheet to be accepted.


Week 8 October 25th (Mid-semester)
MIDTERM Critique
Due at critique: Slides, Artist statement, Sketches of your work.

Research Final: Find 3 examples of what you want to create for your final review this can be biased on discoveries from your mid semester's research or if you have played it out you may find something new.
Proposal: Write a proposal that explains what you intend to explore, what you expect to discover, and it will effect the final art object.

Make 6 examples of each process you choose.

For Final critique refine, your work using process from your research.

Make at least 3 exceptional examples of finished work for critique
