self portrait

Paul Caponigro once said, “It’s one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like, it’s another thing to make a portrait of who they are”. I believe in this statement wholeheartedly. I don’t take portraits just so someone has their picture to hang on the wall. I try to capture that person, family, couple, in a moment that best describes who they are. I enjoy every aspect of photographing people, from first introductions to capturing moments of their lives to last forever.

This particular set of photographs incorporates portraiture with my second favorite subject – my environment. Sometimes I take for granted just how beautiful the Eastern Shore is. Luckily, when I take my camera out and really get a good look at everything around me, I’m easily reminded. Hopefully, these photos will express to the viewer my interest in capturing one’s personality in a portrait, as well as the appreciation I have for my “home”
