Adolescence - Berta Margoulies
Artist: Berta Margoulies
Medium: Bronze Berta Margoulies' sculptures join her to a group of revivalist sculptors who worked in various genre subjects, adding abstractions and expressionist distortions, "exaggerated proportions" and "angular faceting." Due to a lack of materials during the early 1900's, Berta Margoulies' sculptures were made from a variety of materials, including-beaten lead and hammered bronze. This sculpture, titled "Adolescence" is a good example of the archaic style of sculpture that looked back to the work of the ancient Greeks, for its inspiration. |
