Service Partner Sites
ShoreCorps/PALS is now recruiting
sites for the 2012-2013 program year. If you are part of a
non-profit agency or school and are interested in having an
AmeriCorps member at your site, please contact the
ShoreCorps/PALS Office.
Partnership packets are available
here.
Full-time partnership contribution fee (per FT AmeriCorps
member) will be $8,500.
Half-time partnership contribution fee (per
HT AmeriCorps member) will be $6,100.
Quarter-time partnership contribution fee (per QT AmeriCorps
member) will be $3,100.

Caroline County
Caroline County Health Department Prevention –
Denton,
Maryland
~
AmeriCorps members will be responsible for
outreach and recruitment of youth for a coalition youth council,
planning and facilitating youth events in the community and
managing the youth council’s website, Facebook page, and Twitter
account.

Parks –

~
The AmeriCorps member at Caroline County Rec & Parks will
support youth fitness goals in Caroline County and will
implement fitness and nutrition workshops for elementary-age
school children in Caroline County after-school programs.

Mid Shore Community
Mediation Center - Easton, Maryland
~
The primary responsibility of an AmeriCorps member at our site
would be to act as a liaison between home, school, program
staff, and volunteer tutors from the Wicomico Board of Education
to ensure academic success for al school-age children in our
residential program. As a liaison the AmeriCorps member would
monitor students’ academic progress and attendance at the
tutoring sessions. He/she would discuss progress with parents,
work with TLP staff tutors to create action plans for each
child, and involve parents in plans and progress.

College Preparation Intervention
Program –

The AmeriCorps member at CPIP will recruit students in
may be interested in enrolling in a 3-credit college class.
He/she will organize college tours and arrange for financial aid
and career development workshops.
Somerset County Board of Education –
Westover,
Maryland
~
The AmeriCorps member at the Somerset County BOE will
provide direct service mentoring operations for Somerset County
Public Schools, work with supervisors of Student Services to
oversee and manage the mentoring program, organize and host
orientation for new mentors, and provide other duties to support
the mentoring program.

Talbot Mentors –
Easton,
Maryland
~
The AmeriCorps member at Talbot Mentors will be responsible for
coordinating asset building activities for mentor-mentee pairs
for the youth mentoring organization, maintaining ongoing
communication with the volunteers in the program.

Chesapeake Multicultural Resource
Center –
Easton, Maryland
~ AmeriCorps members will join a
diverse team of committed volunteers to open a new multicultural
resource center in Easton. This is to serve immigrants in
Mid-Shore counties to become successful students, and confident,
empowered community members. In addition to participating in the
team work of organizing the center and researching and
developing curriculum, primary responsibilities of AmeriCorps
members are to outreach to the immigrant community to promote
and coordinate afterschool programming for children & mothers,
and evening programs for adults.

Big Brothers Big Sisters
– Salisbury, Maryland
~ Big Brothers Big Sisters mission is to
help children reach their fullest potential through
professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships and
a full range of youth mentoring programs with measurable impact.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is a private, non-profit agency which
matches adult volunteers with children from single-parent
families. The goal of this friendship is to help the child with
the tough job of growing up, expose him or her to new learning
experiences, and to help strengthen his or her self-esteem.

Fruitland Community Center
- Salisbury, Maryland
~Fruitland Community Center provides an after-school program
for children in the Fruitland area. Participants enjoy arts,
music, scouting, and an emphasis on STEM activities. Member needs to be available
during after-school hours- 4:00 to 6:30 p.m., with addition hours during the week
a possibility. FCC also runs a summer program in June and July
for approximately 25 hours/week.
Junior Achievement
- Salisbury, Maryland
~Junior Achievement programs teach financial literacy, work
readiness, entrepreneurship in a classroom setting during school
hours. The member will recruit, train and help implement
programing in K-12 classrooms over the five county area of
the Eastern Shore. The member needs to be available
during school hours as well as other hours as needed for special
events.

Kids of Honor, Inc.
- Salisbury, Maryland
~Kids of Honor, a youth-based non-profit that empowers youth
to graduate from high school. The member will facilitate
the high school program (Y.E.A.H.) and assist fifteen partner
programs in Wicomico County. Member needs to be available
during after-school hours- 3:00 to 6:30 p.m.- in addition to
other hours during the week.

Salisbury's Promise-
Salisbury, Maryland
~Salisbury’s Promise is a branch of America’s Promise. This
program embodies Five Promises which will help youth become
productive citizens: Caring Adults, Healthy Start and Future,
Safe Places, Marketable Skills and Opportunities to Serve. This
experience provides over 100 local students with Marketable
Skills through effective education about career acquisition
tools and opportunities.

Salisbury Zoological Park - Salisbury, Maryland
~Conduct on-site and off-site Zoo education
programs designed to foster an understanding of and appreciation
for diversity and to encourage environmental stewardship and
community-based action designed to improve the world in which we
live. The member will also assist with the care and
handling of the education animal collection, volunteer
recruitment and training, office tasks and cleaning necessary
for educational programming.

Stop the Violence
- Salisbury, Maryland
~Stop the Violence provides an after-school program for
children in the Church Street area of Salisbury. Students get
help with homework, tutoring, reading assistance, computer use,
and sports activities. Member needs to be available during
after-school hours, approximately 4:00 to 6:30 p.m., with
addition hours during the week a possibility.
Village of Hope-
Salisbury, Maryland
~The Translational Living Program at
Village of Hope seeks to provide a long-term safe, and
encouraging residential community of women and children who are
striving towards a life of independence and fulfillment. We
provide transitional living housing for homeless women with or
without dependent children. This is a two year program at which
time we provide counseling, individual and group for each women.
The director and the case worker develop monthly programs to
benefit the resident’s transition back into the community such
as; budgeting workshops, parenting classes, nutritional
programs, etc.

Ward Museum-
Salisbury, Maryland
~The Ward Museum is a crucial interdisciplinary learning
resource for the Delmarva Peninsula. The museum’s Education
Department serves over 19,000 youth and adult students every
year through a variety of dynamic, hands-on programs, tours, and
summer camps that focus on exploring birds in nature,
discovering birds in culture, and creating birds in art. The
museum offers programming to schools, home school, scouts and
other organized groups.

Wicomico County Public Library
- Salisbury, Maryland
~AmeriCorps members at the Pittsville Branch of the Wicomico
Public Library will plan and lead afterschool library activities
for elementary and middle school students, participate in branch
story time programs, serve as a library liaison to the school
and help develop a youth advisory group for the Branch. The
member will interact with students, school staff and volunteers.
Wicomico Mentoring Project
- Salisbury, Maryland
~Assist the mentoring coordinator at Salisbury Middle School
with all duties of the Wicomico Mentoring Project. The
member will interact with students, school staff and volunteers.

Delmarva Discovery Center –
Pocomoke City,
Maryland
~The Delmarva Discovery
Center on the Pocomoke River serves as a source of learning and
discovery for the public through the preservation and
interpretation of its cultural and natural heritage.
The member will develop and deliver scientific
presentations, coordinate volunteer scheduling and training,
assist with live animal care and promote publicized program
opportunities.

Worcester County Health Dept. -
Prevention Office - Snow Hill &
Berlin, Maryland
~Assist prevention specialists with the provision of
prevention services specifically directed towards youth.
Serve with specialist to assist youth in several gender specific
groups and after-school programs with a focus on prevention of
risk-behaviors (i.e., tobacco use, alcohol or other drugs,
etc.). Also participate in outreach activities to
disseminate information concerning these risk behaviors.

- Helping Adolescents Recovery Today (H.A.R.T.) - Snow Hill,
Berlin, Ocean City, Maryland
~ The AmeriCorps member helps to
educate adolescents on the dangers of substance use, goal
setting, healthy life skills and pro-social activities. The
member also works with youth and their families to develop
appropriate natural supports in the community. The target
population is high-risk adolescents in need of a stable role
model, those returning from out of home placement, or those in
danger of being placed out of the home due to behavior issues.
